The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a man suspected of robbing the McDonald’s restaurant in Grand Bay at gunpoint.

Deputies said the robbery occurred on Monday, April 15, at approximately 10:40 p.m. The suspect entered the restaurant armed with a semi-automatic pistol and demanded that the manager empty the cash register. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a blue or black jacket, black shoes, a mask and gloves. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the restaurant on foot. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The sheriff’s office has released a physical description in hopes that someone who was in or near the restaurant that night, or who recognizes the clothing described, will come forward.

About Grand Bay

Grand Bay is an unincorporated community in southwestern Mobile County, near the Alabama-Mississippi line. Because the area is outside the city limits of Mobile, law enforcement there is provided by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office rather than a municipal police department, so investigations like this one are handled by county detectives.

Under Alabama law, a robbery committed while armed with a deadly weapon is first-degree robbery. That is a Class A felony, punishable by 10 years to life in prison.

How to Report

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the robbery is asked to call the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office at (251) 574-8633. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Mobile Area Crime Stoppers.
