Mobile police responded to a shooting on Donald Street near Gorgas Park around 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, according to the Mobile County crime map.
Details about victims or circumstances were not immediately available Thursday evening as officers worked the scene.
A violent close to the year
The gunfire came during an evening when law enforcement agencies across the Gulf Coast typically staff up for holiday celebrations. Gorgas Park sits in a residential part of northwest Mobile where neighborhood streets back up to wooded tracts.
Police had not released information about any injuries or suspects by press time. The investigation remained active.
