A Montgomery woman has been convicted of intentional murder in the 2024 shooting death of her boyfriend in Mobile, closing a case that saw the defendant arrested four separate times before reaching a jury.

Desiree Holiday, 25, was found guilty by a Mobile County jury on Aug. 11, 2026, in the killing of Ja’Curtis Robinson, the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday. Prosecutors said Holiday shot Robinson, her then-boyfriend, on March 3, 2024, killing him instantly. She was arrested and charged with murder soon after.

Four arrests before one verdict

The path to conviction was winding. Holiday was released on bail after her first arrest and moved from Mobile to Montgomery. She was then arrested two more times on the same murder charge before the case finally reached trial. The pattern — repeated arrests on the same charge before trial — reflects the bail and pretrial release process that felony cases can cycle through when defendants are rearrested or have their release revoked and reinstated.

The trial began Aug. 11, and the jury returned its guilty verdict the same day. It was the first trial and conviction of what District Attorney Keith Blackwood called the 2026-27 Trial Season for his office.

What happens at sentencing

Holiday is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 30, 2026, at 9 a.m. Intentional murder in Alabama carries a sentence of 20 years to life in prison. At sentencing, the court will hear from prosecutors and the defense, and Robinson’s family will have the right to address the court under Alabama’s victim impact provisions before the judge fixes the term.

The conviction closes a case that began on a Mobile street more than two years ago, but for Robinson’s family the legal process is not finished — a sentencing hearing on Sept. 30 will determine how long Holiday remains in prison for the killing.
