A Beatles double-dose arrives in downtown Mobile this weekend. Nowhere Boy, the biopic of John Lennon’s youth and his first band, the Quarrymen, opens Friday, November 19 at the Crescent Theater — and before the Friday and Saturday evening shows, Mobile’s own The Blackjacks will play a short live set.
The film traces Lennon’s teenage years and the evolution of the Quarrymen into The Beatles, making it an easy pick for fans of the band’s origin story.
Also on the Crescent’s calendar: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, the third film in Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, begins a two-week run on November 26.
The theater has also rolled out a new Wednesday matinee, Early Bird Cinema, at 2:00 p.m. Regular admission is $8, and moviegoers 55 and older pay $6 for that showtime. Trailers and full showtimes are posted at the theater’s website.
