College football fans in the Mobile area got about as good a television schedule as they could ask for to open the 2019 season: kickoff times finalized in late May lined up South Alabama, Alabama and Auburn back-to-back-to-back on national TV on August 31.
The day starts at 11 a.m. on ESPN, when the South Alabama Jaguars travel to Lincoln, Nebraska to face the Cornhuskers at Memorial Stadium — one of the boldest non-conference road trips on any Sun Belt schedule that year.
When the Jaguars wrap up, the dial shifts to ABC at 2:30 p.m. for Alabama against Duke in Atlanta, part of the Chick-fil-A Kickoff lineup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Auburn follows immediately on the same network, meeting Oregon at 6:30 p.m. from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
That means local viewers could watch all three of their favorite teams across a single nine-hour stretch without leaving the couch — an alignment even longtime schedulers called unusually fan-friendly.
