A Prichard man has been found guilty of intentional murder for his involvement in a 2023 deadly shooting outside a Mobile gas station, according to the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office.
A jury found 25-year-old Devanta Hall guilty of intentional murder, reckless endangerment and shooting into an occupied vehicle, the DA’s office said in a news release.
According to the release, LeCharles King was shot on June 18, 2023, at the Pride Gas Station on St. Stephens Road. Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the gas station that showed a person getting out of Hall’s vehicle with a rifle and shooting into King’s vehicle. Hall was then seen getting out of his own vehicle with a handgun and shooting into King’s vehicle as well, according to the release. Officials said King managed to get out of his vehicle and run a short distance before collapsing and dying from his injuries.
“This was a deliberate and deadly act of violence with no regard for human life,” Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood said in a statement. “This verdict holds Devanta Hall accountable for taking LeCharles King’s life, and I hope it brings some measure of justice to his family. I am grateful to our prosecution team and investigators for their work on this case.”
Hall’s sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 15.
