Prichard police have taken a man into custody in connection with a homicide that happened over the summer, according to an announcement from a city spokesperson.
The case dates to the afternoon of July 28, when officers were sent to the 900 block of Marengo Drive around 4:30 p.m. after reports that a person had been shot. When they arrived, officers located a man who had been struck by gunfire once. He was identified as 37-year-old Demarcus Benjamin of Prichard.
First responders determined Benjamin had died before he could be taken for medical care.
