MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama baseball returned to two national polls Monday, a day after completing a three-game sweep at Louisiana-Monroe that extended the Jaguars’ winning streak to seven games.
The Jaguars are ranked No. 20 by Baseball America and No. 25 by Collegiate Baseball. South Alabama is the only Sun Belt Conference team ranked in either poll.
Atop the Sun Belt
South Alabama won the series in Monroe, La., 10-8, 9-6 and 7-2 to improve to 34-12 overall and 15-6 in conference play. The Jaguars sit first in the Sun Belt standings with a two-game lead over second-place Troy.
No More Midweek Games
South Alabama, coached by Mark Calvi, has no midweek games remaining on its regular-season schedule, giving the team additional rest before postseason play.
The Jaguars return home this weekend to host Middle Tennessee State in a three-game Sun Belt series at Eddie Stanky Field.
