MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama baseball ranked No. 25 in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper’s weekly top-30 poll, which was released Monday. The Jaguars were the only team from the Sun Belt Conference included in this week’s rankings.
South Alabama is 17-4 overall and 2-1 in Sun Belt play. This is the second time this season the Jaguars have appeared in the Collegiate Baseball poll, and the No. 25 position matches the program’s highest spot in that poll since May 19, 2003, when South Alabama was No. 25 with a 39-15 record.
A 3-1 Week
The Jaguars went 3-1 last week. They beat Alabama State and then won two of three games at Troy as they opened Sun Belt Conference play.
South Alabama also ranks 12th in the Rating Percentage Index, according to both Boydsworld.com and WarrenNolan.com.
Midweek Trip to Southeastern Louisiana
South Alabama, coached by Mark Calvi, was scheduled to play a midweek game at Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday night, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. The Jaguars play their home games at Eddie Stanky Field.
