MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama right-hander Kevin Hill collected three weekly awards this week after throwing a one-hit shutout with a career-high 15 strikeouts against Sun Belt Conference leader Georgia State.
No-Hit Bid Into the Ninth
Hill carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning before Georgia State managed its only hit. He retired 16 consecutive Panthers from the third inning through the eighth.
The outing was his second complete game of the season and his seventh straight win. His 15 strikeouts were the most by a South Alabama pitcher since P.J. Walters struck out 15 against Georgia Southern in 2006.
Three Honors
- Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week: Announced Monday by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. Hill is the first Jaguar to receive the honor since Jake Overstreet in March 2010.

In eight starts, Hill is 7-0 with a 2.22 ERA. He has struck out 66 and walked 21 over 56 2/3 innings, with two complete games and one shutout. He entered the week leading the Sun Belt in strikeouts.
