TROY, Ala. — South Alabama baseball opens its final regular-season series Thursday at Troy, with the Jaguars looking to secure a spot in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
The South Alabama baseball team and Troy are scheduled to play Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the opener set for 6 p.m.
Standings at Stake
South Alabama enters the series 21-29 overall and 10-16 in Sun Belt play and has lost five straight games. Troy is 22-29 overall and 9-17 in the conference, having lost six of its last seven games and 10 of its last 12.
Only the top eight of the Sun Belt’s 10 teams qualify for the conference tournament, which will be played at Eddie Stanky Field in Mobile. The Jaguars are trying to remain in the top eight.
The teams split two games at Eddie Stanky Field earlier this season to open conference play.
Pitching Matchups
- Game 1: South Alabama’s James Traylor (1-2) makes his first start of the season. Troy counters with Shane McCain (4-4), who is making his 14th start.
- Game 2: Locke St. John (6-2) starts for the Jaguars. Troy will start Tanner Hicks (2-9), who threw a complete-game shutout against South Alabama in the conference opener at Eddie Stanky Field.
- Game 3: Neither team has announced a starter.
