MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama’s Bobbie Williamson was named the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday after a career-best performance in the hammer throw at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Career-Best Throw in Austin
Williamson reached 59.53 meters on her first attempt at the meet in Austin, Texas, last week. The mark placed her fifth in a field of 23 throwers and ranks second all-time in South Alabama women’s track and field history.
Conference and National Standing
Williamson is the reigning Sun Belt champion in the hammer throw and currently leads the conference rankings in the event. She ranks fifth in the NCAA Division I East Region and 15th nationally.
She has finished in the top five in the hammer throw at each of South Alabama’s four outdoor meets this season.
