MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama will open preseason football camp Tuesday night, beginning preparations for the 2015 season after the program made its first postseason bowl appearance last year.
The Jaguars, coached by Joey Jones, will hold their first two practices at the James A. and Frances H. Yance Football Practice Facility on campus.
Opening Week Schedule
- Tuesday, Aug. 4: 6:30 p.m., two hours
- Wednesday, Aug. 5: 6:30 p.m., two hours
- Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 6-8: 7:15 a.m., about 2 1/2 hours each
- Sunday, Aug. 9: off
After the two evening sessions, the team will move to a morning schedule for the rest of the first week.
Two-a-Days Begin Aug. 10
South Alabama’s first two-a-day workouts are scheduled for Monday, Aug. 10, with a morning session at 7:15 a.m. and an afternoon session at 4:30 p.m. Each two-a-day session is scheduled to last about 1 1/2 hours. The Jaguars will hold a second two-a-day that Thursday, Aug. 13. The team’s other practices that week, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, are set for 7:15 a.m.
Scrimmages and Fan Day
The Jaguars will hold their first preseason scrimmage at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, and their second the following Saturday, Aug. 22. Both scrimmages will be held at off-campus sites that have not yet been announced.
The university’s annual football Fan Day is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Mitchell Center.
South Alabama competes in the Sun Belt Conference and plays its home games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile. All practice times are subject to change.
