MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama football season tickets went on sale Monday morning, with the first opportunity to buy going to donors and current Jaguar season ticket holders ahead of the program’s inaugural season.
The South Alabama athletic office reported receiving several calls Monday from people seeking information about tickets for the new program.
Who Can Buy Now
During the initial sales period, season tickets are available to donors to the football program’s booster club, which has not yet been named, and to current South Alabama season ticket holders.
Season tickets will go on sale to the general public in about two weeks.
Seat Selection in the Spring
Fans who buy season tickets now will choose their seat locations in the spring. The order of seat selection will be determined by a priority points system, with buyers who have more points choosing their locations first.
A Program Starting From Scratch
South Alabama is building its football program from the ground up under head coach Joey Jones, with the Jaguars scheduled to begin play in 2009. The team will play its home games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
Monday’s start of season ticket sales marks one of the first opportunities for fans to make a financial commitment to the program before it plays its first game.
Additional details on public sales are expected when tickets become available to the general public later this month.
Update: Prices, Plans and Priority Points
South Alabama announced that the two-week priority window is open to Football Support Club donors and basketball season ticket holders, with sales to the general public beginning Monday, Nov. 17.
Because the 2009 schedule has not been released, prices are based on a six-game home schedule. Sideline season tickets cost $75 and end zone season tickets cost $39. Students will be admitted free and seated in the student section.
Buyers can choose from four plans. The first three are multi-year commitments that lock in current prices through the 2011 season. The fourth covers only the 2009 season and does not guarantee prices for later years.
Priority points, based on cash gifts, gifts-in-kind and outstanding pledge balances, will determine access to and seating for football, men’s basketball and baseball, as well as NCAA tournaments, bowl games, Sun Belt Conference tournaments, NCAA events hosted by USA, away-game tickets, priority parking at home games and any event where demand exceeds supply. Those points will set the appointment times when football season ticket holders select their seats in the spring.
Season tickets for all Jaguar athletic events are available through the ticket office at 251-461-1USA.
