MOBILE, Ala. — The South Alabama golf team has been named an All-Academic Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America for the fourth consecutive year.
Team GPA of 3.35
The Jaguars posted a combined 3.35 grade-point average for the 2011-12 academic year. Eleven South Alabama golfers carried at least a 3.0 GPA, and four of them earned a 3.5 or better.
To qualify for the award, every player on a team’s official roster must carry a minimum 3.0 GPA for the academic year. Schools submit the grade points earned and hours attempted by each player on the official team list for consideration.
Seventy-nine NCAA Division I programs received GCAA All-Academic Team honors for the 2011-12 season.
Leberte Named All-America Scholar
McLain Leberte was also recognized individually by the GCAA as a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar. Leberte will be a senior on the 2012-13 team.
Four Years Running
The award extends South Alabama’s run of All-Academic recognition from the coaches’ association to four straight years. The Jaguars compete in the Sun Belt Conference.
