MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama soccer swept the Sun Belt Player of the Week awards for the second time this season, with freshman Charde Hannah and sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Hay earning the weekly honors.
The Jaguars went 2-0 over the past week, extending their winning streak to six matches.
Hannah was recognized for the second consecutive week. The award was the first of Hay’s career.
Hannah Ties School Record
Hannah tied a South Alabama record with four goals and added an assist in the Jaguars’ 5-0 victory over Francis Marion.
She ranks second nationally in points per match at 2.6, fourth in goals per match at 1.1, and 11th in game-winning goals with three. South Alabama ranks sixth in NCAA Division I in scoring, averaging 3.70 goals per match.
Hay Posts Two Shutouts
Hay made 11 saves across two shutouts during the week. She stopped five shots in a 1-0 win over North Florida and six more in the victory over Francis Marion.
The sophomore has recorded five shutouts in six appearances this season. Her 0.32 goals-against average ranks 10th in the nation, and her .939 save percentage ranks third.
Conference Play Begins Friday
South Alabama carries its six-match winning streak into the league schedule. South Alabama opens Sun Belt Conference play on Friday at 7 p.m., when the Jaguars host Troy at The Cage.
