South Alabama’s Charde Hannah tied a school record Sunday with four goals as the Jaguars defeated Francis Marion 5-0 in women’s soccer.
Two Goals Before Halftime
Hannah opened the scoring in the fifth minute, finishing an assist from Danielle Henley. She added her second goal in the 28th minute, firing a shot into the upper right corner off a pass from Jordan Duncan. South Alabama led 2-0 at the break.
Record-Tying Second Half
Chelsea Followwell made it 3-0 in the 50th minute, scoring on a rebound from about six yards out after a save by the Francis Marion goalkeeper.
Less than six minutes later, Hannah completed her hat trick with a shot from roughly 20 yards. In the 66th minute, she ran onto a through ball from Sophie Haywood and scored her fourth goal, matching the school’s single-match record.
By the Numbers
South Alabama outshot Francis Marion 35-10 and held an 18-6 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Sarah Hay made six saves to preserve the shutout.
Hannah, a freshman from Tupelo, Mississippi, was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week last week after a three-goal week in wins over Mississippi State and Alabama A&M.
