TROY, Ala. — Necee Jennings scored in the 66th minute as Troy beat South Alabama soccer 1-0 on Sunday afternoon, the second time in a week the Jaguars were held without a goal.
South Alabama, which at one point this season led the nation in scoring, fell to 10-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Jaguars had dropped to third place in the league standings after last week’s loss to Western Kentucky.
Trojans Climb in Standings
The win evened Troy’s conference record at 3-3-0 and moved the Trojans within one match of South Alabama in the Sun Belt standings. Troy improved to 7-9 overall.
Home Stretch at The Cage
South Alabama closes the regular season with two home matches at The Cage. The Jaguars host second-place Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday at 7 p.m., then face eighth-place Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday at 1 p.m.
