MOBILE, Ala. — No. 25 South Alabama softball beat No. 12 LSU 12-5 Wednesday night at Jaguar Field, collecting 15 hits for its first victory over the Tigers in six tries. The South Alabama softball team played before an overflow crowd.
The 15 hits were the most for the Jaguars in a game this season and the most LSU has allowed in a game this season. South Alabama’s 12 runs tied its season high and matched the most runs LSU has given up in a game this year.
Fagan Perfect at the Plate
Haley Fagan went 4-for-4, a career best, with three singles and a solo home run over the center field wall.
Johnson, Julie Moss, Meghan Collins and Britany Campbell each finished with two hits. Johnson and Collins drove in two runs apiece.
Beard Stays Unbeaten
Farish Beard improved to 12-0 on the season. She struck out eight and allowed two hits and five earned runs in 4 2/3 innings. Hannah Campbell allowed two hits and struck out two in relief. Together, the two pitchers struck out 10 LSU batters.
