MOBILE, Ala. — No. 25 South Alabama softball opens a three-game Sun Belt Conference series against Western Kentucky this weekend at Jaguar Field, carrying a five-game winning streak into the matchup.
The Jaguars are coming off a 12-5 victory over No. 12 LSU on Wednesday and have won eight of their last nine games.
Standings Matchup
South Alabama is 28-5 overall and 5-1 in Sun Belt play. Western Kentucky arrives at 17-10 overall and 6-2 in the conference, making the weekend a meeting of two of the league’s top teams to this point in the season.
Hilltoppers’ Pitching
Western Kentucky pitchers have earned three Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week awards this season. Emily Rousseau has won the honor twice and Mallorie Sulaski once. The two have combined for 13 of the Hilltoppers’ 17 victories.
South Alabama head coach Becky Clark said she expects a difficult series.
“They’re going to give us all we can handle,” Clark said. “We’ve got to do a great job of keeping things rolling right now. We’ve got to remain consistent and remember what got us results in the first place.”
“We can enjoy the success we’ve had, but we’ve got to remember where it came from and stay locked in to it,” she added.
