Mobile County sheriff’s investigators are working to determine what killed a 26-year-old man whose body was discovered in a wooded area of Chunchula.
Deputies said the body of Cody Lee Skelton was found off Rudolph Gallasch Road by family members on a Wednesday afternoon. He had been operating a four-wheeler in the vicinity where he was located.
Authorities said foul play is not suspected in the death. The cause remained unknown pending further investigation, and the sheriff’s office did not say how long Skelton may have been in the woods before his family found him.
The case underscores the risks that come with riding all-terrain vehicles in remote, wooded stretches of rural Mobile County, where riders often travel alone on uneven ground far from help.
