A doom metal band playing a live showDoomstress brings its blend of doom and stoner metal back to Mobile's Blind Mule.

Houston’s Doomstress brings its blend of doom and stoner metal to The Blind Mule’s Attic stage on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at 9 p.m. The group is touring behind its freshly released “The Second Rite” on No Slip Records, which adds remixed tracks from its first EP and the new song “Bitter Plea.”

Back in the Azalea City

Doomstress last played Mobile in November 2016 and told South Alabama News the band is looking forward to returning for familiar faces and new fans. The Feb. 17 date marks the first show of the Doomstress Beerwolf Southern U.S. Tour alongside supporting acts Beerwolf and Hallelujah Gangbang, both of whom the band shared stages with on that 2016 run.

The new track “Bitter Plea” pairs earnest vocals with a chugging rhythm guitar and a slow, murky bass line, a signature of the band’s heavy-but-melodic attack. Doomstress songs often comment on life experience, current events and politics.

Fans in North Alabama can also see the tour at The Nick in Birmingham on Feb. 18. Closer to home, The Attic’s February calendar also includes The Hallers on Feb. 9 and The Living Deads on March 4.
