A four-year-old boy was hospitalized with a broken leg Saturday, February 2, after a golf cart collided with him along the Dauphin Island parade route.
According to the child’s parents, he was struck near the three-way stop on the parade route. Mayor Jeff Collier said the collision happened before the parade had reached that point on its path through town.
The mayor confirmed the golf cart was not part of the parade itself. The boy’s mother said the cart was traveling quickly down an otherwise empty stretch of road when it hit her son.
No charges or citations had been announced in connection with the incident. The child remained in the hospital receiving treatment for the broken leg, according to his family.
