The Independent Music Collective at the University of South Alabama closes its 2016 season on Oct. 28 with Richard Buckner, a songwriter generating national buzz. Doors at Satori Coffee House open at 7:30 p.m., show at 8 p.m.; USA students get in free with ID and others are asked for a $5 donation.
Buckner has earned high-profile admirers. Bon Iver, currently holding the No. 2 album on the Billboard chart, dedicated its latest release, 22, A Million, to him, with Justin Vernon calling Buckner’s 13 albums “perfect.” NPR has called him “an immensely gifted artist,” and The New York Times finds him riveting. Pitchfork gave his latest, Our Blond, an 8 out of 10.
