A sharp rise in COVID-19 cases across Mobile County is forcing the county health department to reshuffle where and how it delivers care.
The Mobile County Health Department announced that Family Health, its primary care division, is temporarily shutting the Dauphin Island Parkway Health Center. Patients who normally use that clinic will be seen at other Family Health locations around the county while the closure is in place, and staff are directing patients to call 251-690-8889 to book appointments at an alternative site.
Outreach Events Called Off
Alongside the clinic closure, every outreach event previously scheduled by the department’s COVID-19 Response Team has been canceled as the agency concentrates its resources on the surge.
Vaccinations and testing have not stopped — they have been consolidated at the Festival Center location in Mobile, where residents can walk in for either service during posted hours.
What Residents Should Do
Health officials urged residents affected by the changes to call ahead rather than showing up at the closed parkway clinic. Anyone with a scheduled appointment there should expect to be rescheduled to another Family Health center, and those seeking a shot or a test can head directly to the Festival Center site.
The department said the adjustments are temporary and tied directly to current case levels, with services expected to return to normal once the surge subsides.
