Mobile County Health Department Temporarily Closes Parkway Clinic as COVID Cases Climb
Mobile County Health Department temporarily closes the Dauphin Island Parkway clinic, cancels outreach events, and consolidates services at Festival Center.
A sharp rise in COVID-19 cases across Mobile County is forcing the county health department to reshuffle where and how it delivers care.
The Mobile County Health Department announced that Family Health, its primary care division, is temporarily shutting the Dauphin Island Parkway Health Center. Patients who normally use that clinic will be seen at other Family Health locations around the county while the closure is in place, and staff are directing patients to call 251-690-8889 to book appointments at an alternative site.
Alongside the clinic closure, every outreach event previously scheduled by the department’s COVID-19 Response Team has been canceled as the agency concentrates its resources on the surge.
Vaccinations and testing have not stopped — they have been consolidated at the Festival Center location in Mobile, where residents can walk in for either service during posted hours.
Testing and vaccination hours
According to the health department, vaccination and testing at the Festival Center location were offered Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The changes came as the omicron variant drove a steep rise in COVID-19 cases across Alabama and the nation in the weeks around the 2021 holidays.
