Mobile Event Raises Domestic Violence Awareness at Cathedral Square
The eighth annual 'End It Now' Family Day and 'Love Shouldn't Hurt' march at Cathedral Square brought Mobile residents, families and community leaders together to raise awareness of domestic violence and support survivors.
MOBILE, Ala. – An event in Mobile’s Cathedral Square on Saturday drew residents together to shine a light on domestic violence and abuse – and to stand with those who have lived through it. The gathering marked the eighth annual “End It Now” Family Day and “Love Shouldn’t Hurt” march, a community tradition dedicated to raising awareness and offering support.
Bringing the Community Together
Organizers said the event was intended to bring together residents, families, community leaders and others to show support for victims and survivors of abuse. The family-friendly format paired the seriousness of the cause with an atmosphere of solidarity and encouragement.
A Message Against Abuse
Organizers added that the march is designed to promote awareness, encourage open conversations about domestic violence and send a clear message that abuse has no place in the community.
Cathedral Square, the downtown park near the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, sits at the heart of downtown Mobile.
