MOBILE, Ala. — Mobile police are looking for a suspect after a man was shot and a nearby vehicle was struck by gunfire outside the South of Dauphin Apartments on Dauphin Street Wednesday night.
According to a Mobile Police Department news release, officers were called to the apartment complex around 8:30 p.m. on July 29 after reports of a shooting. By the time officers arrived, the victim had already left the scene and was headed to a hospital for treatment; he was later confirmed to have non-life-threatening injuries.
Argument Preceded the Shooting, Witness Says
Officers spoke with a witness at the scene who said the victim had been arguing with a woman when another man opened fire, striking both the victim and a nearby unoccupied vehicle. The victim was ultimately taken to a local hospital by personal vehicle rather than by ambulance.
Investigators are treating the case as first-degree assault and say the investigation remains active as they work to identify and locate the shooter.
