Prichard Opens Applications for Small Business Grant Program Built for Pandemic Recovery
Prichard's Thrive Small Business Grant Program is accepting applications from local business owners recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The City of Prichard has opened applications for its Prichard Thrive Small Business Grant Program, a new effort to funnel direct financial assistance to local business owners still working to recover from the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
City officials announced that applications are being accepted as of Sunday, October 17. The program targets Prichard’s small businesses, which were among the hardest-hit operations during repeated public health restrictions and slowdowns over the past year and a half.
Who qualifies
According to the city, grant money is meant to cover operating and employee expenses. To qualify, a business must be located within Prichard city limits with an active city business license, be a for-profit business in good standing with the Alabama Secretary of State, have been in operation on or before March 1, 2020, with between one and 25 employees at that time, and be able to document that its income suffered because of COVID-19.
The business must also be owned by a low- to moderate-income household or employ full-time low- to moderate-income workers. National chains, banks, nonprofits and several other types of businesses are not eligible. Applications can be picked up at the Prichard City Clerk’s Office, 216 East Prichard Ave.
