Spanish Fort Fire Rescue is inviting the community to its Public Safety Day on Saturday, Oct. 21.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire department, 7580 Spanish Fort Blvd. Crews will teach the public about emergency preparedness, and other local public safety agencies are expected to attend.

Demonstrations are scheduled throughout the day: how to respond to a car fire at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; Jaws of Life extrication at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; and fire extinguisher demonstrations at 10:15, 11:15, 12:15 and 1:15.

It is a family-friendly event with free hamburgers and hot dogs, kids’ activities and games, plus appearances by Sparky and Smokey Bear.
