Glam rock takes over Dauphin Street on Friday, Oct. 1, when The Struts return to Soul Kitchen, 219 Dauphin St. Doors open at 7 p.m., with tickets running $25-$55 through the venue’s website, soulkitchenmobile.com.
The British quartet is on the road in support of its latest album, “Strange Days,” a record the band made with producer Jon Levine, who also worked on their sophomore release “Young & Dangerous.” Rather than booking studio time, the group spent ten days couch-crashing at Levine’s home while tracking the album. The sessions produced the slow-burning title track that opens the record, complete with a featured turn from British pop veteran Robbie Williams, along with “All Dressed Up,” a return to the band’s signature stomping blend of glam rock and glam metal.
The album also finds the band tipping their hats to their heroes. They cover KISS’s “Do You Love Me” from “Destroyer,” and Def Leppard’s Phil Collen and Joe Elliott both lend a hand on the rowdy “I Hate How Much I Want You.”
Atlanta’s Starbenders get the evening started with their own brand of co-ed glam rock. Formed in 2016 and introduced on debut album “Heavy Petting,” the band has kept evolving, filtering classic influences — Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Suzi Quatro among them — into fresh material. Frontwoman Kimi Shelter’s voice anchors the group’s sound, and their fuzzy new single “No One Listened” should land well with the Soul Kitchen crowd.
With an ambitious new album in tow, The Struts’ Mobile stop shapes up as one of the more exhilarating nights on the venue’s fall calendar.

The Struts formed in Derby, England, in 2012, fronted by singer Luke Spiller. The band released its debut album, “Everybody Wants,” in 2014, followed by “Young & Dangerous” in 2018 and “Strange Days” in 2020.
