A scheduled Mobile stop on rapper Yo Gotti’s “Live From the Kitchen” tour has been canceled. The Memphis rapper, born Mario Mims, had been set to perform at the Mobile Civic Center on Saturday, April 17, but organizers pulled the show from the calendar without offering a specific reason.
The cancellation leaves fans in the Port City without one of the higher-profile hip-hop dates that had been on the venue’s spring schedule. Yo Gotti was riding a wave of new mainstream attention heading into 2010, after his singles “5 Star” and “Women Lie, Men Lie” (featuring Lil Wayne) both went gold and crossed onto the Billboard Hot 100 the year before. The “Live From the Kitchen” branding that carried his tour would later become the title of a full studio album, released in 2012 on Polo Grounds Music.
