Coastal Alabama Community College recently celebrated its senior nursing students on the Thomasville campus with a luau-themed party, honoring the group as they prepare for graduation.
The event recognized the students’ accomplishments throughout the nursing program and marked the culmination of their coursework just weeks before formal graduation ceremonies.
A Pipeline for Rural Health Care
Coastal Alabama Community College’s nursing program is one of several allied health offerings at the Thomasville campus. Community college nursing programs across Alabama play an outsized role in training registered nurses and licensed practical nurses, who go on to sit for state licensing exams before joining hospitals, clinics and long-term care facilities. In rural West Alabama communities like Thomasville, those graduates often become an important part of the local health care workforce.
