Family Health Awarded Two Community Health Center Quality Recognition Badges
Family Health has earned two HRSA Community Health Center Quality Recognition badges, for health information technology and for diabetes care, placing it among Alabama's top-performing health centers.
Family Health has received two Community Health Center Quality Recognition (CHQR) badges from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), recognizing the Mobile County health center’s achievements in access, quality, health equity and health information technology.
The first badge, “Advancing Health Information Technology (Quality),” recognizes health centers that have adopted electronic health records, offered telehealth services, exchanged clinical information with other providers, engaged patients through health IT tools, and collected data on patients’ social risk factors.
The second badge names Family Health a “National Quality Leader for Diabetes Health,” honoring centers that meet or exceed targets for adult body mass index screening, weight assessment and counseling for children, and diabetes and hemoglobin A1c control measures. Of Alabama’s 17 Federally Qualified Health Centers, only seven received the diabetes badge this year.
HRSA leadership said in a statement that “your health center’s efforts are central to advancing a model of coordinated, comprehensive, and patient-centered care.”
Federally Qualified Health Centers like Family Health receive federal funding to provide primary care, dental, behavioral health and other services to communities regardless of a patient’s ability to pay, often serving as a safety net for uninsured and underinsured residents. HRSA’s CHQR badges are awarded annually to recognize centers that demonstrate strong performance on clinical quality and operational measures.
HRSA, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, administers the federal Health Center Program, which funds community health centers under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act.
Operating since 1979, Family Health serves Mobile County’s uninsured and underinsured populations through primary care, behavioral health, HIV services, dental care, pharmacy and other comprehensive services. Appointments are available by calling 251-690-8889.
