Mobile’s recycling drop-off centers were slated to return to service Wednesday, Oct. 13, once repairs wrapped up at the Florida facility that processes the city’s recyclables.
The city trucks its recyclables to the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority’s Materials Recycling Facility in Escambia County, Fla. Operations there had been shut down since an August fire damaged the building.
With repairs complete, Mobile’s centers at 308 Pinehill Drive and 4851 Museum Drive were tentatively scheduled to reopen for drop-offs at 7 a.m. Wednesday. New hours run 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends, with recycling limited to Mobile residents.
Residents with questions can call 251-208-5311 or check the city’s recycling page.
