Ribbon-Cutting Set for New Gulf Shores High School Ahead of Inaugural School Year
Gulf Shores City Schools will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, Aug. 10, for the new Gulf Shores High School, with tours to follow and weekly 'Tuesday Tours' offered throughout August.
GULF SHORES, Ala. — As a new school year gets underway, Gulf Shores High School students will step into a brand-new building for the first time, becoming the inaugural class to walk the halls of the district’s newly constructed campus. The multi-year construction project is wrapping up just as the educational phase of the building’s life begins.
Gulf Shores City Schools and the City of Gulf Shores announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new high school scheduled for Monday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. In a news release, Superintendent Dr. Matt Akin invited the public to attend the ceremony and take part in guided tours of the facility immediately afterward.
“Gulf Shores City Schools and the City of Gulf Shores is proud to announce the grand opening of the new Gulf Shores High School with a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for Monday, August 10 at 11 a.m. This event marks a major milestone in the district’s mission to provide exceptional learning environments and innovative educational opportunities for all students,” the release stated.
New Campus Features State-of-the-Art Facilities
The new campus features state-of-the-art academic facilities, innovative learning spaces, advanced technology integration, and modern athletic and performing arts complexes designed to support student achievement. “The building was thoughtfully designed to be a long-term community asset — one that fosters collaboration, creativity, and excellence,” said School Board President Kevin Corcoran.
“This new high school represents our community’s commitment to creating a world-class educational environment for our students,” said Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft. “It’s an investment in the future of Gulf Shores, and we are proud to open a facility that reflects the energy, ambition, and spirit of our city.”
Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Campus Tours
Immediately following the ribbon cutting, guided tours of the new high school will be offered to attendees, giving families and community members a chance to walk through the facility. In addition to the Aug. 10 tours, Gulf Shores High School will host “Tuesday Tours” every Tuesday throughout August for community members who want to explore the campus. Those interested can register online through the district’s tour sign-up form.
“Our teachers, staff, and students deserve the very best,” Akin said, “and this new campus was designed with that vision in mind. We look forward to the incredible work and innovation that will take place within these walls.”
The ribbon cutting will take place at the new Gulf Shores High School, located at 21565 Coastal Gateway Boulevard. Visitors are asked to use the west entrance. More information on Gulf Shores City Schools is available at gsboe.org.
