MOBILE, Ala. — The South Alabama men’s golf team has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Regionals for the first time in program history and will compete as the No. 8 seed in the Baton Rouge Regional.
A Program First
South Alabama had played in an NCAA Regional on six previous occasions before the 2012-13 season, but this is the first time the Jaguars have been selected for the postseason with an at-large invitation.
The Baton Rouge Field
The Baton Rouge Regional, hosted by LSU, features 13 teams and 10 individuals. The teams, in order of seeding, are:

- 2. Florida
- 3. LSU
- 4. Mississippi State
- 5. Houston
- 6. Northwestern
- 7. Tennessee
- 8. South Alabama
- 9. Coastal Carolina
- 10. UAB
- 11. Wichita State
- 12. Southeastern Louisiana
- 13. Houston Baptist
Format and Path to Nationals
Play begins May 16 with 18 holes scheduled on each of three consecutive days. The top five teams and the top individual not on one of those teams will advance to the NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 28 through June 2 at the Capital City Club’s Crabapple Course in Alpharetta, Ga.
South Alabama competes in the Sun Belt Conference.
Update: Regional Play Begins
South Alabama opens play in the NCAA Regional hosted by LSU on Thursday, May 16, at the University Club, a 7,436-yard, par-72 course. The Jaguars tee off at 8:50 a.m. in a group with Tennessee and Coastal Carolina, and the regional will be played over 54 holes in three days, with first-round play beginning at 8 a.m.
Second-ranked Alabama is the top seed. No. 10 Florida, No. 17 LSU, No. 23 Mississippi State and Houston round out the top five seeds. The NCAA Championships begin May 28.
