MOBILE, Ala. — The South Alabama men’s golf team posted its second straight under-par round Tuesday and finished second at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate, its best finish of the season.
No. 22 Auburn won the team title by eight strokes over the Jaguars, the third consecutive year the Tigers have won the event.
Jansen Leads Three in Top 10
Daniel Jansen shot a 4-under 68 in the final round to finish at 4-under 212, one shot behind the individual winning score.
Michael Garretson carded a 70 and Tyler Klava a 72 in the final round, and both joined Jansen in the top 10. Jansen opened with rounds of 75 and 69, while Garretson and Klava each began 75-70, giving Garretson a 215 total and Klava 217.
Team Standings
Ole Miss finished third, five shots behind South Alabama. Michigan State and Louisiana Tech rounded out the top five.
South Alabama had entered the final round with a one-shot lead over Auburn and Ole Miss after opening with a 299 and then shooting 5-under 283 in the second round at Magnolia Grove Crossings, the low team round of the day.
The 15-team event was hosted in Mobile. South Alabama competes in the Sun Belt Conference.
