EVERGREEN, Ala. — A suspect accused in a fatal grocery-store shooting in Evergreen is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon for a preliminary hearing.

Michael Colin Mitchell is accused of shooting and killing Lavon McCreary inside the Pic-N-Sav in Evergreen. He was arrested shortly after the shooting.

McCreary was killed in front of her two children inside the store. Family members said she was expecting a child and was due within a week of her death.

The preliminary hearing is set for Monday afternoon in Conecuh County.
