Mobile police are investigating an assault that left a man injured over the weekend after he told officers he was pistol-whipped and shot at during an argument.
According to a Mobile Police Department news release, officers responded to the 120 block of Michael Donald Avenue just before 2 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of an assault in the area. Michael Donald Avenue runs through a residential section of midtown Mobile, Alabama’s third-largest city.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located a man suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The victim told investigators that another man struck him with a pistol and then fired shots at him in the course of an argument between the two.
Despite the gunfire, the victim was not struck by any bullets. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for the injuries he sustained during the assault.
Mobile police have not announced any arrests in connection with the incident, and the department says the case remains under active investigation. Investigators have not released additional details about the nature of the argument or the identity of the suspect.
