Pastors and ministry leaders from across the Gulf Coast are invited to a one-day workshop this fall aimed at sharpening their approach to preaching Scripture, hosted jointly by the University of Mobile and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
The Practices of Christ-Centered Preaching Workshop will take place Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Dorsett Auditorium on the University of Mobile campus. Organizers describe the event as designed to strengthen and equip those called to proclaim the Bible, offering practical instruction, biblical encouragement and time for fellowship among attendees.
Two Featured Speakers
The workshop will feature Jason Allen, president of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and H. B. Charles Jr., lead pastor of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Through teaching sessions, guided discussion and direct interaction with the two experienced preachers, participants will dig into the practice of biblical preaching and talk through the challenges of communicating Scripture with clarity, conviction and faithfulness in a modern ministry setting.
Organizers said the workshop is built to serve a wide range of experience levels, from pastors who have been preaching for decades to those just beginning their ministry careers. The event is also open to those who teach Scripture in settings beyond the pulpit, such as adult Bible studies, women’s ministry, student ministry and other teaching ministries.
