BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Grab a broomstick and a bicycle: Bay Minette is planning its first-ever Witches Ride, a community bike ride that will double as a fundraiser for a local animal shelter.
The event is set for Oct. 26 in downtown Bay Minette and will benefit the North Baldwin Animal Shelter, a nonprofit, no-kill shelter in the area.
The ride covers about 3 miles on mostly level streets, beginning and ending at Blackburn Park at the corner of Hoyle Avenue and First Street. The route winds around Courthouse Square, past Hand Avenue, the new Bay Minette Elementary School and the Bark Minette Dog Park before returning to the square. A street dance will follow the ride.
Participation in the ride carries a $25 registration fee. The event is organized by the city of Bay Minette.
