Family Held at Gunpoint During Home Invasion at Mobile Apartment Complex

James Bullard, July 21, 2026

Mobile police are investigating a home invasion in which three men forced their way into an apartment early Sunday and robbed a family at gunpoint, one of several armed robberies reported around the city over the weekend.

According to a Mobile Police Department report, officers were called to the Tyler Ridge Apartments at 7720 Thomas Road at around 2:58 a.m. Sunday. Investigators say three men approached a man outside his apartment, physically assaulted him, and forced their way into his residence.

Once inside, the suspects stole money and jewelry while holding the man’s family at gunpoint before fleeing the scene. It is unclear how many family members were held during the incident. No injuries beyond the initial assault were reported. The suspects have not been identified but face first-degree robbery charges, and the case remains under investigation.

MPD reported several other armed robberies over the same weekend, July 17-20:

Early Sunday morning, a man was allegedly robbed at gunpoint on Country Lane. Officers arrived around 6:45 a.m. and learned that a man known to the victim had entered the home and attempted to rob him at gunpoint before fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported, and the case remains an active investigation. The suspect has not been identified but faces first-degree robbery charges.

On Saturday afternoon, a man threatened to shoot another man and stole his bicycle in the 1900 block of Willow Oak Drive. Officers responded around 2:45 p.m. and found that the unidentified subject had approached the victim, threatened him with a shooting, and taken his bike. That case also remains under active investigation, with first-degree robbery charges pending an arrest.
