Colorful hot air balloons at a festival

Foley Wants an Artist to Design Next Year’s Hot Air Balloon Festival Poster — No AI Allowed

James Bullard, July 15, 2026

The Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival Committee is calling on artists to design the official t-shirt and poster artwork for the 2027 festival, the 23rd annual edition of the Foley event.

Submission guidelines are specific: the design must be the artist’s original creation, with AI-generated artwork explicitly prohibited. The design should reflect the festival’s theme of hot air balloons, art, music and the Gulf Coast, and must include the text “23rd Annual Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival” along with the year 2027 and “Foley, AL” somewhere in the artwork. The final commissioned poster size cannot exceed 18 inches wide by 24 inches tall.

Selected artists agree to relinquish ownership of the artwork, which becomes the sole property of the Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival and the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, to be used in any manner the chamber deems appropriate without further compensation. In exchange, the commissioned artist receives a one-time payment of $500.

The submission deadline is Thursday, Oct. 1. Entries can be delivered to the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce at 200 N. Alston St. in Foley, or mailed to PO Box 1117, Foley, AL 36536. Anyone with questions can contact Rachel Spear at 251-943-5550 or rachel@southbaldwinchamber.com.
