Industrial job training in Mobile County

ThyssenKrupp Training Applications Opened in Mobile in 2008

James Bullard, May 22, 2008

Historical report, published from archived WKRG coverage.

In May 2008, people interested in training for jobs at the planned $3.7 billion ThyssenKrupp steel mill could begin applying online for free AIDT training, according to an archived WKRG report.

The training, part of Alabama’s two-year college system, was held on weeknights in Mobile and could be expanded to daytime and weekend sessions. WKRG reported that operating positions at the steel mill were expected to pay up to $25 an hour, while industrial-maintenance positions could pay up to $30 an hour.

Applicants who had already applied for ThyssenKrupp-related AIDT training were being reviewed and did not need to apply again. This is a historical hiring and training notice; the application period is no longer current.
