One of Baldwin County’s most expensive homes is changing hands through a live auction rather than a traditional real estate listing. The roughly 12,000-square-foot waterfront mansion overlooking Little Lagoon in Gulf Shores is set to be sold to the highest bidder this week.
A Resort-Style Estate on Little Lagoon
The two-story, gated property sits on more than an acre at 14964 Alabama 180, better known as Fort Morgan Road, just outside downtown Gulf Shores. Built in 2005, the home includes 10 bedrooms, three kitchens, seven full bathrooms and two half baths.
The estate has long been counted among the priciest addresses in Baldwin County. Back in 2011, it drew attention as one of the five most expensive homes in the county, at that time carrying a listing price of $2.9 million. Baldwin County’s most recent property tax valuation places the home and land at $2.2 million.
Auction Details
Gadsden-based National Auction Group is handling the sale, with registration beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday at the property and bidding starting at 11 a.m. Marketing materials for the sale describe the home as offering all of the luxuries expected from a five-star resort, pointing to its private white sand beach, a 450-foot pier with a boat house, a boat lift, a float for jet skis, a screened pool and spa, and an integrated whole-house automation system that controls everything from the coffee maker to the window coverings.
Little Lagoon is one of the most sought-after waterfront settings in Gulf Shores, prized for its calmer, more sheltered water compared to Gulf-front property, while still offering quick access to the beach. Homes along its shoreline routinely rank among the highest-valued residential properties in Baldwin County tax records.
Additional photos and details on the property were made available ahead of the sale through the auction company’s website. It remains to be seen whether the live-auction format will fetch a price closer to the home’s earlier listing price or its more recent tax appraisal, but the sale offers a rare public look at one of the Alabama Gulf Coast’s standout waterfront estates.
